Lash Extensions FAQ

What are eyelash extensions?

Eyelash Extensions are semi-permanent eyelash extensions comprised of individual synthetic eyelashes that are curved to replicate a natural eyelash. Our lashes are thicker at the base and taper to a fine point. They are applied on to individual eyelashes, one extension at a time, for a natural, elegant look to lengthen and add fullness to the existing lashes.

What do they look like and how do they feel?

With proper application, Eyelash Extensions look and feel completely real. Each application is customized to suit the individual. We offer three thicknesses of lashes and four different curls with lengths ranging from 5mm to 17mm in a variety of colors for highlighting effects. Varying individual synthetic lash lengths are chosen to carefully replicate the shape and frame of a natural lash line. The thickness of the Eyelash Extensions applied is determined by the health and thickness of your natural lashes as well as personal preference. The overall effect is added curl, thickness and length, opening up the eye for added definition.

What are the benefits of wearing eyelash extensions?

Most women choose Eyelash Extensions to lengthen their natural lashes while others want their lashes to look fuller. A number of women with naturally light colored lashes choose Eyelash Extensions to darken their existing lashes, create a younger appearance and to eliminate wearing mascara daily.

How long does eyelash extensions last?

The look can be maintained indefinitely with refills. When properly applied, an Eyelash Extension will remain in place until the natural lash on which it rests falls out. This can be as long as two months or more.atural eyelashes grow in and fall out in cycles (every 60 to 90 days). When a natural lash matures and falls out, a new lash has already been growing and quickly replaces it without us noticing the turnover. This process is constant and at any given moment our many natural lashes are at different stages of maturity. Some are just growing in, while others are ready to shed. People typically shed between 1 and 5 natural lashes each day, depending on their individual growth cycles. On shorter natural lashes, this growing and shedding cycle is virtually unnoticeable.

Waxing FAQ

How often should I come for my brow shaping appointment?

How often should I come for my brow shaping appointment?

How should I prepare for my wax appointment?

If this is your first time at the beauty studio, we ask you arrive about 10-15 minutes prior to your appointment to fill out a consent form.

Can I  wax if im on medication?

It's always best to refer to your doctor if you have any questions. For prescribed creams such as Retin-A or Differin, we advise that you stop use 7 days prior to your wax appointment and do not resume use until 7 days after your wax service. We will not wax you if you are on Accutane. It's very dangerous to wax while on Accutane and a doctor's note will be needed to receive services. Please make sure you update us on what medications you may be taking so we can ultimately provide you with a safe waxing experience.

What is derma planing?

Dermaplaning is best done every 4 weeks. However if you chose to do this once or twice for a special occasion, there is no negative side effects from doing so.

Is derma planing safe for someone with acne?

No. Unfortunately, if you have active breakouts, dermaplaning can cause those pustules to open & spread bacteria on your face.

Why cant I do this service at home?

You could, but It would be nothing like dermaplaning. Dermaplaning is an EXFOLIATION service, the hair removal is just a bonus. At home razors are not sharp, or precise enough to remove dead skin effectively.

Do I get to choose my brow shape?

Your brow shape will be determined using five key measurements on the brow bone based on your face shape and structure. Though these points will be used as a guide, Ashli will not start the procedure until you approve or completely love the outlined shape.

Does it hurt?

Your comfort is very important; and because of this, we will apply a local anesthetic to numb the area before and during your procedure.  On a scale from 1-10, most clients rated the procedure as a “3”.  Also, it has been stated, “…if any pain was felt at all, it feels like eyebrow threading”.

How long is the brow service application?

Generally, an appointment is scheduled for 4 hours; however, the procedure will take up to 50 minutes of that time.  The remaining time is used for pre-numbing, paperwork, consultation, evaluation and any Q&As that are unanswered.  Additional time may be used to ensure you are pleased with your procedure.

I have oily skin. Can I still receive the service?

Clients with oily skin would not be an ideal candidate to receive certain SPMU services. However, if you’re willing to take the leap then consider the following:

Microblading would be least ideal since the only pigment under the skin is within the line or stroke. One may lose the ENTIRE stroke. A better option would be to shade (Microshading, Ombré Powder Brows). Shading places more pigment under the skin so if a client is oily, they stand to hold the pigment a lot better and should not look completely faded if any color is lost.

Who’s not an ideal client?
Clients prone to keloid scarring.

Clients with pre-existing brow tattoos.

Clients with excessively oily skin, larger pores, thicker skin and eyebrow keratosis can negatively affect the absorption of the pigment and therefore are not great candidates for the semi-permanent eyebrow procedures.

** If your beauty provider has to cancel your appointment due to any of these reasons the client is still responsible to pay for appointment . Retaining fees are non-refundable **

How often will I need to return for a touch-up?

The touch up should be done within the 6-8 week time frame to ensure you get optimum results. At this appointment, your beauty provider will adjust anything you or her see to ensure brows are as symmetrical as possible.

How long will the semi-permanent brows last?

Skin types, age and daily activity play a major role in the longevity of your semi-permanent brows application.  Most eyebrows application will last 8-12 months, while others may last longer. Please note that since the pigment is not implanted as deep as a traditional tattoo, your pigment will fade gradually until it eventually fades away.  For your brows application to remain, you need to schedule a touch-up appointment every 8-12 months.

Can you explain the difference in the services offered?

Microblading of the three is a two-step process. It will require a follow-up appointment in 6-8 weeks for fullness or to make the strokes appear 3-dimensional. The follow-up appointment is not included in the initial appointment’s fee. This service is the most natural and intended to mimic real brow hairs.

Ombre Powder Brows is typically a one-step process. Most will not need a touchup so soon since the shading can be layered for fullness in the initial appointment. This service is the most glamorous and intended to mimic a fillled-in, shaded brow. This is more ideal for oily skin clients.

What is the After Care procedures for this service?

Day 1:

Using distilled water, gently apply light pressure to the brow area, hourly.

Before bed, apply a thin layer of ointment to the brow area using a cotton swab. Never use your finger-tips.

Days 2-10:

DO NOT wet the brows or allow makeup or other products to flow through the serviced area.
